Cinemagic is coming back to Dublin. The internationally renowned film and television festival for young people has in the last few months completed a 20th anniversary celebratory Festival in Belfast and an extensive 4 city USA Festival (New York, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco).Now the Festival team is back in Dublin bringing with them a wealth of cinema magic, lots of well known industry professionals ready to share their knowledge and experience with young people aspiring to working in film and TV and a whole lot of Festival fun for all the family.

The 2011 Dublin programme is jam packed with masterclasses, screenings (Gala, Anime, Family Favourites, Teenage Flicks, Sporting Giants) and school workshops. With tickets for screenings from €4 it is excellent value for money.

The Festival has received acclaim and support from many well known faces. Cinemagic is delighted to announce that Pierce Brosnan has recently agreed to become a patron of the Festival, adding his name to the list of renowned patrons who support and champion the work of Cinemagic around the world. They include Dermot O'Leary, Liam Neeson, Saorise Ronan, Patrick Bergin, Brian Cox, Julian Fellows and Terry George.

One of the most popular aspects of the Festival are the MASTERCLASSES where young people in small groups can meet with some of the most established people in the industry today. Early application is strongly advised as places are limited. This year the masterclasses will be held in The Burlington Hotel: Official Hotel Partner & host of the Cinemagic Masterclasses, and they will include: Coronation street favourites SurAnne Jones (Karen) and Anthony Cotton (Sean)who will deliver a joint masterclass in acting; Television presenting workshop with TV3 presenter Karen Koster; Presenting with MTV's Laura Whitmore; Screenwriting with the acclaimed writer of Elizabeth and The Tudors Michael Hirst; Acting with Michelle Fairley; Technical direction of animation with Greg Maguire (Avatar's creature technical director; Casting with Julie Harkin; Acting with Rachel Kavanagh; Television presenting with The Holiday Show's Jon Slattery and Ciara Whelan; Film Journalism with Ian Haydn Smith. SCREENINGS: Family favourites and classic films - see much loved titles back on the big screen such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Stand By Me, Rocky, Labyrinth and The Warriors. The Festival opens at Cineworld with a Gala screening of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules. FOCUS ON ANIMATION: In partnership with We Love Anime, Cinemagic is bringing anime fans a selection of the best films coming out in the next 12 months- Summer Wars, Redline, Laputa Castle in the Sky and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.

CROSS BORDER FESTIVAL JURY: young people from the North and South of Ireland are invited to apply to be part of the Cinemagic Festival Jury to chose the best short films for young and teenage audiences (two juries ages 10 -14 and 15 -18). CINEMA SAFARI - Throughout the programme there is a focus on African cinema with various events and films for schools. The film screenings will be accompanied by a number of exciting school workshops exploring all aspects of African culture. Events and films include The Crimson Wing: Mystery of the Flamingos & discussion with Irish Wildlife Trust, African Drumming & Dance, African craft making and storytelling, Africa United & Africa Centre Ireland discussion, Eco-Unesco water conservation, Bouncing Cats & Hip Hop, Life Above All, Street Kids United and Benda Bilili with UNICEF Ireland.

The festival EDUCATION PROGRAMME also includes History Live: The Vikings, Storyboarding, Mapping the Weather with Nuala Carey, Make a short animation in a day, and lots of film screenings. Acknowledging that in these times travelling to out of school locations can pose challenges for classes Cinemagic aims to bring more Festival experiences into schools directly.

Secondary school students can look forward to The Film Review with Film Ireland, Film Classification with IFCO, Animation with Barry Purves, a chance to Meet The Professionals and learn the mechanics of how film and television is made and screened, a special In Conversation with Christian de Vita the lead storyboard artist on Fantastic Mr Fox, Special Effects Make up, a Q&A with members of the cast of PRIMEVAL and lots more.

And there's more .... CINEMAGIC STARS is looking for a school in Dublin bustling with budding actors, dancers and singers for a 2 day intensive masterclass led by a music director and dramatist who will provide acting and vocal coaching, culminating in a performance of a well known musical that they will perform to their school.
