Imagine the west of Ireland and the warmth of an Irish pub. In the corner, the hypnotic pulse of a traditional Irish music session, drawing you in as the turf fires crackle and the pints are downed late into the night. The music, constantly surging and moving, until at last, the entire pub is enveloped, moving and toe tapping to every note. For many, that image is but a fond memory of a visit toIreland, one which you'd love to revive, but which gradually fades, and will be fuelled again only by your next visit to Irish shores.

But now, you can again get a taste for the best in traditional Irish music, this time, without leaving the comfort of your own home. Dervish, one of Ireland's greatest traditional Irish music bands, will play material from their extensive back catalogue, compiled over the past 21 years, popular session tunes Reels and Jigs played in their own unique way. This live webcast will come direct from their home town of Sligo, Ireland on Friday October 8th where the band will be joined by several special guests for this online web session, beginning at 11 pm Irish time/6 pm Eastern/3 pm Pacific.

Viewers will also be able to engage with the band through instant online messaging. A selection of IMs will be read out by the band at intervals throughout the performance. This messaging service will also enable music lovers worldwide to communicate with each other, making this thebiggest Irish music session ever.

The Irish pub session is at the core of Irish music, the bedrock of Irish expression. It's a platform that has given so much artistic talent to the world and is what makes the small island of Ireland a cultural oasis in Western Europe. The session is at the heart of where tunes are played, songs are sung and yarns are spun. It's the hub of Irish social life, where marriages begin, lifelong friendships develop and where true Irish character exists.

The concept originated from when Dervish launched their new album From Stage to Stage to an astonishing online audience of over 30,000 viewers towards the beginning of the summer. This prompted Dervish and LiveTrad.com to look at the idea of bringing regular traditional Irish music sessions to their fans worldwide via the internet, and this is the first of these. The cost of subscribing to the webcast is just €4.99, which is around the price of a pint! And now the band hopes that all their friends and fans around the world will raise a glass during this online traditional Irish music session which promises to be a party like none you've experienced beforeand you even can buy the band a pint which is customary at Irish pub sessions

From performances in front of 240,000 people at the world's biggest festival in Rio, to accompanying the Irish government on state visits overseas, Dervish have been at the forefront of Irish traditional music for the past 21 years. The band's music was nurtured in the pubs of the west of Ireland and in their native Sligo, an area rich in music and culture. Now the band go back to their native Irish rootsto bring a flavor of this musical life to online viewers across the globe.

Don't forget to drop in and you never know who you might meet. And please tell a friend...
