New to BWW and not sure if this question has been asked or not, but here I go anyway. Do men belt? I've been told yes, but it's different for each voice part and I've also been told that men just sing loud and that is sometimes mistaken for belting. HELP! Thanks :)
Men can belt. If your a tenor you sure as hell can. Baritone still. Bass it's harder but you can if you put your mind to it, as long as you arn't bass 2 then you can't belt as no one can hear you.
Usually, belting is defined as extending the chest voice into the part of the range that could be used with head voice, and under that definition, yes, most of the time, men belt. The term is usually only used with women because they use the head voice much more often, whereas men usually just use the chest voice. However, this is ignoring the mix voice, which complicates matters. In short, yes, men do belt, but the term is used for women.
random person, I don't know what you're talking about--I'm a bass 2, and, assuming we are understanding "belting" so mean the same thing, all of my singing is belting/chest voice, and the tenor 1's who I know mix most of their singing because it's so high.
